For this commission I took existing furniture of sentimental value to the client (it was owned by his late parents) and reimagined it as new pieces of furniture of use to the client. The existing furniture was a four-piece bedroom suite dating from the late 1950’s from which I took the drawers and used them in an entrance table and console unit. For both the entrance table and the console unit I used new American white ash to build the structure which I designed to fit the existing drawers. I gave both the entrance table and console unit a mid-century modern design in keeping with the original furniture. I finished the American white ash in a black hard-wax oil which contrasts nicely with the existing drawers.
